ELLIS Institute Finland is developing an ecosystem of top talents, businesses and investments in Finland, with fundamental machine learning research at the core. The Institute is part of the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS), which aims to build a pan-European institution for machine learning research.

The institute’s second call for AI and machine learning research group leaders attracted 315 applications. The seven newly recruited professors will join the institute as principal investigators during the 2026-2027 academic year.
AI accelerates discovery and collaboration at interdisciplinary summer school
“AI for research” is transforming many scientific and industrial domains. Roughly 100 students and researchers gathered at ELLIS Institute Finland to explore these themes at the recent summer school on AI for Research.
